What is Handmade Soap made of?
Is it true that Handmade Soap is a cleanser made with simple ingredients that are good for your skin?
In the handmade soap making process, oils and fats are combined with an alkali to produce soap and glycerin. Modern soap is still made by this basic process, but handmade true soap offers many unique benefits for your skin. We make our handmade soap by cold batch process and choose the highest quality pure skin-loving oils such as olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, sweet almond oil, sunflower oil. We also use rich butters like cocoa butter, shea butter and mango butter. It reads like a grocery list and we call them Almost Edible Soaps™.
Is there lye in Handmade Soap?
No. Although lye (an alkali ) is used to make true soap, the chemical reaction between all of the ingredients used in the soap making process cause the lye to be literally "reacted away," leaving behind a mild, effective bar of pure handmade soap.
How should I take care of my Handmade Soap?
Handmade soap is a special product. Because it contains glycerin, it can retain more moisture than other soaps. To extend the life of your handmade soap, place it in a well-draining soap dish. Keep unused bars in a cool, dry place, and use them within a few months of purchase if possible, however, if stored properly our soaps should last for at least one year.
How can I be sure of the ingredients in my Handmade Soap?
You can see the page on our web site where we list all of our ingredients or review our product ingredients list at sales. Our products are either unscented or we gently scent our products with either natural essential oils or synthetically enhanced fragrant oils. Essential oils and fragrance oils contribute scent; food safe colours and pigments impart color; and botanicals, spices, and other natural ingredients add texture. It is not unusual to find our handmade soap made with such things as oatmeal, loofah, corn meal or other goodies that provide light and gentle exfoliation for your skin. Many of our handmade soaps are "superfatted" (super-enriched) with
additional oils that are literally suspended in the soap and applied directly to the skin while bathing, providing even more emollience.
Why is Glycerin Important?
Glycerin is naturally produced during the handmade soap making process. In fact, pound for pound, glycerin costs more than soap, which is why some soap companies remove the glycerin from the soap and sell it to manufacturers of things like tooth paste and lotion. We do not remove the glycerin from our handmade soap, so when you purchase soap made by us, it contains all of the naturally occurring glycerin. With handmade soap you get a fabulous cleanser and a moisturizer in one. To make our Absolutely Fabulous Glycerin soaps™ we purchase extra glycerin (and not all glycerins are the same quality, we use the best quality we can find and also use organic glycerin for some products) These soaps are created for wonderful colours and scents as well and look lovely on your counter, feel great on your skin and because glycerin is a natural humectant it will draw moisture to your skin.
I have allergies, are your products safe for me?

Since you don't use any preservatives, how long will your products last?
You should use your products within 12 months of purchase. You will find our bars will last 2 to 3 times longer than a commercial bar of soap.
Your products are all natural, are they also all organic?
Some are certified organic and will be stated with that information. Not all raw materials are available certified organic. We purchase all of our raw materials from highly reputable vendors. Only high quality oils and butters that help nourish your skin are added.
How long does it take to ship my products?
You should receive your purchase from 5-14 days depending on where we are shipping to. We contact you by phone or email and let you know your parcel is on its way. When ever possible we will ship Xpress Post Canada to ensure it is timely and gives you a tracking number. In all cases we charge you what it costs us to ship. We do not use our shipping as a means of profit.
What is your refund policy?
